President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has urged the people of Mangochi to register their names to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming 2025 general elections.
President Chakwera stated this on Monday, July 22, 2024, after inspecting the construction works of the mega modern Cape Maclear Road project at the Namukumba area of High Chiefs in Mangochi District.
Addressing the assembled people, President Chakwera said registration was very important as it gave them the opportunity to vote for public office holders of their choice.
Commenting on the new road infrastructure, Chakwera said the road would greatly enhance travel convenience for local and international tourists as well as the community in Mangochi.
President Chakwera called on contractors to always strive to improve their capabilities when constructing roads so that they can stand the test of time.
On the issue of hunger, President Chakwera assured the residents of Mangochi that his government would ensure that the people had enough food.
Chakwera said he had taken steps to revitalize the agricultural sector through irrigation for the people of Mangochi and Malawi in general.
