Libreville, Wednesday, July 31, 2024 (Infos Gabon) – The Electricite de Gabon, of which Mr. Philippe J. Ossoucah is General Manager, has launched the development of roads and various networks as well as infrastructure related to the power plant gas from the thermal IPP in Mayumba. These achievements, launched last week, are achieved within the framework of the public-private partnership signed by the Gabonese Government, GPC and Perenco.
After the President announced the transition during his visit to Nyanga as part of a Republican tour, the developer has accelerated work to deliver 8.5 megawatts of power in the first phase by July 2025.
“We are proud to start the first works at the Mayumba gas-fired thermal power plant. This important progress brings us closer to several objectives within the framework of the project, notably providing electricity to approximately 80,000 households in southern Gabon and developing the country’s natural gas resources to restart long-awaited major projects in the mining sector,” said Mr. Philippe Jr. Ossoucah in Libreville on Tuesday, July 30.

Mr. Stephane Mbadinga Ditengou, Assistant Director General of the Gabon Strategic Investment Fund (FGIS), said: “Our goal is to invest in projects in Gabon that will ensure a better future for future generations. Furthermore, through the GPC, which has started work on the Mayumba IPP gas-fired thermal power plant, we are demonstrating our commitment to supporting the Gabonese State in improving the living conditions of its people and strengthening the national economy.
Remember that Electricite de Gabon was created in 20215 by FGIS as a holding company dedicated to financing infrastructure projects for the production of electricity and drinking water. In his speech during the Nyanga phase, the transitional president, in place of Mayumba, spoke independently on the development of Gabon in general and this part of the territory in particular.
“The future of Mayumba is bright with the construction of the deepwater port and the gas power plant. These infrastructures will transform all economic activities in the province and the country,” declared General Brice Clotaire Origi Nguema.
