Heads of state, leaders of international organizations, athletes, representatives of National Olympic Committees, and representatives of sport and development finance attended the meeting, which was organized at the initiative of French leader Emmanuel Macron and the IOC.

The event discussed education and employment, young people acquiring sports and healthy nutrition skills, the importance of increasing physical activity and wellbeing, and working to ensure equality and inclusion so that everyone can participate in physical activity and sport.

They also discussed sports financing and the desire to organize more sustainable and responsible sporting events in line with the Paris Agreement on climate change, the presidency reported.

Lithuania will send 50 athletes to the Paris Olympics, which begin on Friday, including 31 making their Olympic debut.

Nauseda said that exactly 100 years have passed since independent Lithuanian athletes first participated in the Olympic Games, and the achievements of the national team today are a testament to Lithuania’s rich sports traditions, and also to the ability of Lithuanian athletes to move forward boldly and achieve victory in new sports.
