The business climate indicator summarizes information from surveys in the manufacturing, services, trade (retail and wholesale) and construction industries. It is based on 30 opinion reports from these surveys. The employment indicator is based on 10 employment reports (past and expected) from surveys in the manufacturing, services, retail and construction industries.
The balance of employment opinions in the services sector used in the employment context distinguishes the services sector, which excludes the temporary work employment sector, from temporary work agencies. For the latter, unlike for the other sectors, the balance of past and expected workforce size is not weighted.
The surveys on manufacturing, construction, retail trade, and trade and repair of vehicles and services are part of a coordinated EU programme of joint business and consumer surveys and are partly funded by the European Commission.
Responses to these surveys were collected between July 26 and August 20, 2024; most companies responded within the first two weeks of collection.
