Roseau, Dominica (TDN)
The number of missing people in Dominica has risen to four, and the situation is becoming increasingly worrying. Police have no explanation for the disappearances, while families continue to search in vain for their loved ones. In less than a month, Sherian Joseph, 21, of Castle Bruce, Marcellin Williams, 77, of Soufriere, Bernadine Jean-Jacques, 52, of Newtown, and Catherine George, 44, of Grandefonte, have all gone missing. On May 15, 2016, Joseph told her family she was going to visit someone in the village, after which she seemingly vanished without a trace. Police then detained her boyfriend for questioning, but he was released a short time later. Search parties were organized by residents of Castle Bruce, and several searches were conducted in the area, but all were unsuccessful. Joseph had no record of running away, and due to the length of time she had been missing, she was feared dead. On June 3, 2016, Williams, who was believed to be suffering from memory loss, went out for a walk and never returned. Surprisingly, no one has organised a search for him, with one of his family members telling a local radio station that when he reported his disappearance to police, she was told nothing could be done because it was election time. He has still not been found. Police say Jean-Jacques, who suffers from mental illness, was last seen on June 7 and has not been seen since. She went missing while living in Newtown. Meanwhile, George, who is believed to suffer from the same illness, disappeared on June 10. The large number of missing people has unsettled the local community as they are not used to dealing with so many disappearances.

Meanwhile, police are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that may help locate the missing persons.
