Beijing: Li Shangfu, former Chinese Defense Minister Yang Jiechi was abruptly dismissed from his post last year under unclear circumstances and has been expelled from the ruling Communist Party, state media reported on Thursday (June 27).
Li is suspected of bribery.
According to Xinhua News Agency, he was expelled from school for serious violations of discipline and law.
China Central Television reported that “the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee…decided to expel Li Shangfu from the party, cancel his qualifications as a delegate to the party congress, and transfer his suspected criminal case to the military procuratorate for examination and prosecution.”
