Saudi Arabia will host the World Cup in 2034. To do so, the government plans to build a futuristic soccer stadium, Neomin, which will be located 350 meters above the ground, according to the tech news publication. New atlas.

Neom Stadium will be located atop a 170km-long skyscraper called The Line, which is expected to form a city of up to nine million residents – roughly the size of New York City.

We wanted this line to be a giant, mirror-covered rectangle in the middle of the desert.

Behind the idea for this city is the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salmanwhich said in July 2022 there is a project costing about $500 billion.

Viivakaupunki is part of the Neom economic zone promoted by the crown prince, planned in Tabuk province. The city will be built with zero emissions: all the energy needed there will be obtained from wind and solar power plants.

The city of the future will be completely car-free. It will be accessible by high-speed train and elevator or on foot, because according to the vision, all services residents need will be within a five-minute walk.

Not that big anyway.

Viivakaupunki has already been built. However, there are rumours that the project will not be as large as originally planned. For example, the length is suspected to be less than 170 kilometres.

Saudi Arabian authorities have announced that the first section of the linear city will be completed by 2030. It will be 2.4 kilometers long, 500 meters high and 200 meters wide.

With its swaggering football stadium, Saudi Arabia hopes to beat neighboring Qatar, host of the 2022 World Cup.

Neom Stadium can accommodate more than 45,000 spectators. Apart from this, Saudi Arabia has 14 other stadiums hosting World Cup matches. Construction of Neom will begin in 2027 and is expected to be completed in 2032.
