The President passed the Food Security Act. Mohammed Muizzu was approved today.
The bill was passed at the 26th session of the first National Assembly held on the 13th of this month.
The Act stipulates the rules and standards that food service establishments and food service providers should comply with to maintain food quality and safety to ensure that food produced and consumed in the country, imported and exported from the country is safe, hygienic and harmless. Public Health Clothing and Food Are Human The Act provides for other necessary rules and standards to ensure that their use is safe and healthy.
The main objectives of the Act include prescribing the standards to be observed by establishments where food is produced, processed, packed, labeled, stored, stored, purchased, sold, transported or supplied and describing the procedures for licensing such establishments, including those preparing, packing, Safety and sanitation standards that porters and other food service workers should adhere to.
The Act also aims to maintain the quality and ensure the health safety of food imported and exported to, and produced and consumed in, Sri Lanka.
The President approved the bill and it was published in the Dhaka Government Gazette today.
