Five fishing areas have been developed in the country.
The minister made the remarks at a press conference held by the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources yesterday.
The Government has decided to develop five sport fishing areas in Sri Lanka, targeting both the sport fishing community and the international fishing community.
The minister said the project will increase investment in Sri Lanka. He also noted that the country’s revenue source will increase.

In addition, the project will create more jobs and business opportunities.
He said the project will bring new opportunities to Sri Lanka’s fisheries sector, adding that the project is one of the government’s efforts to promote fisheries development.
