High risk of incident Fire It will be tomorrow (05.08.2024) in Attica, central and western Greece, Thessaloniki and parts of the Peloponnese, half of Crete, the Ionian Islands, the North Aegean and the Dodecanese.
Civil protection has classified the 15 areas as Category 3 (high risk) where fires are likely to occur. Although the temperature has “dropped” slightly, the danger remains.
Authorities advised citizens to exercise caution as 52 fires were reported across Greece in the past 24 hours alone.

The General Secretariat for Civil Protection of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection (civilprotection.gov.gr) has informed the relevant government authorities as well as the regional and municipal governments in the above-mentioned areas so that they can strengthen civil protection preparedness to respond immediately to any fire incidents.
Civil protection advises caution
The General Secretariat of Civil Protection advises citizens to be especially careful and avoid acts that could cause fires in the open air due to negligence, such as burning dry grass and branches or cleaning residues, using machines that produce sparks, such as circular saws, welding equipment, using outdoor grills, fumigating bees, throwing lit cigarettes, etc. In addition, it is worth noting that burning fields is prohibited during the fire season.
