At the 2024 Paris Olympics held not long ago, Ecuador performed well and won five medals, including one gold, two silvers and two bronzes, which was a historic milestone for the country.
The president of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE), Jorge Delgado Panchana, highlighted what happened during a press conference in France on Monday evening, August 12, in the presence of his order, gold and silver medalists Daniel Pintado and Lucía Yépez.
“We have rarely felt what we have today, the great satisfaction and pride that we have as Ecuadorians, it is something we rarely enjoy, the medals of the Paris Olympics are priceless, from now on Ecuador will never again be an orphan of Olympic medals,” said.
“We have achieved a lot: we grew as leaders and after the Tokyo Olympics they told me the bar was high and we accepted the challenge. We cried, we laughed, we had difficulties and now in Paris we are getting the results of our efforts,” Delgado added.
He went on to say: “My recognition and admiration for the athletes, they are the future of the country, we must help them rise, not criticize them, we must understand and support them.” (Four)
