Marseille, France: Captain Antoine Dupont scored twice as Stade Toulousain won its fourth French rugby league title in the past five editions, beating Union Bordeaux-Begles 59-3 in Friday’s final.
Defender Thomas Ramos also scored twice, while Peato Mauvaka, Julian Marchand, Blair Kinghorn, David Ainu’u and Ange Capuozzo each scored in the big win at the Stade Velodrome.
Ramos kicked two penalties and two extra points, while Kinghorn had a try of his own and Roman Ntamack also contributed a bonus point.
Maxime Lucu scored Bordeaux-Begles’ few points early in the game, but thereafter they offered little resistance to Toulouse’s attacking flair and Champagne rugby.
Dupont was having his finest moment, picking up the ball quickly in the sixth minute to start a nine-try spree before scoring again with a clever lob and chase-down before the break.
Toulouse increased their French Ligue 1 wins to a record 23 games.
