Drug dealers seized 7.5 kg of ecstasy. “Goods” will soon be available at music festivals

Two traffickers who procured 7.5 kg of ecstasy from the Netherlands, intending to sell it in Bucharest and during festivals in the country, are being investigated by DIICOT.

They were arrested on June 20, when they sold around 10,000 ecstasy pills for 30,000 euros.

Police officers from the Bucharest Organized Crime Brigade – Anti-drug Unit, together with DIICOT – the prosecutor of the Central Structure, have documented the criminal activities of two persons under investigation for the offences of high-risk and high-risk international drug trafficking, the introduction of high-risk and high-risk drugs into the country in a continuous form and trafficking within the country.

One of the persons in charge is suspected of committing a crime by using products with psychoactive effects continuously without authorization.

According to the criminal investigation documents conducted, on the evening of June 19, one of the suspects brought (by land) 21,961 ecstasy tablets (7.5 kg) and about 10 grams of cocaine purchased from the Netherlands into Romania, where he would transport the drugs to Brasov County and store them at an address in the city of Brasov together with the second person.

On June 20, the two were caught red-handed while selling about 10,000 ecstasy pills for 30,000 euros.

Afterwards, the remaining 11,000 ecstasy pills out of the total amount entering the country were taken from the two men at the rented location.

These drugs are sold at music festivals

In addition, the investigation found that the suspects were engaged in the targeted sale of high-risk drugs (with a market value of approximately 220,000 euros) in Bucharest and during music festivals in the country.

At the same time, one of the suspects, according to the same criminal resolution, purchased, possessed and sold different quantities of high-risk and dangerous drugs on multiple occasions during June 2024. Psychoactive substances (GBL mixed with GHB and amphetamine, ecstasy, MDMA, ketamine and 2-MMC).

On June 20-21, 2024, prosecutors from the Central Agency for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism ordered the detention of two persons under investigation for 24 hours.

On June 21, 2024, the Rights and Freedoms Judge of the Bucharest Court ordered their preventive arrest for 30 days.
