In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Mutharika said Malawi is currently at a critical moment in history and the choices we make today will affect the future of Malawi’s children and grandchildren. At this congress, he will occupy the top position without dispute.

“In a few weeks, our party will hold a major electoral conference with the theme ‘Reclaiming Recognized Leadership: A Call to All Malawians to Restore Hope, Rebuild the Economy and Repair the Shattered Unity of Our Nation’. This is not just a routine event, but a defining moment that will determine the direction of our party and our country. It is a call to action for all Malawians who believe in the power of change and a better tomorrow,” he wrote.

He added that our country faces daunting challenges – our economy is in trouble and our unity is weakened.

“The Tonse coalition has failed to deliver on its promises and it is clear that their approach has not worked. Now more than ever, we need credible leadership to restore hope, rebuild our economy, and heal the gap that divides our society,” he noted.

He further announced that in the coming days, the Congress team and himself will make more announcements and communicate with everyone on the details of the Congress. He called on everyone to participate and support as the party works to restore hope and rebuild Malawi.
