Dominican Health Minister Casani Lavelle said the country will continue to monitor developments with the Mpox virus.
On August 14, 2024, the World Health Organization declared Mpox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
Lavelle, who is also the chairman of the executive committee of the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), said the Dominican Republic developed the Mpox action plan last year.
