The Dominican government was honored for honoring Olympic gold medalist Thea Lafond Gadson.
Dominican Olympic Committee President Billy Doctoroff said the government’s recognition of the gold medalist was a step in the right direction.
Thea Lafond Gadson will receive the Dominican Republic’s highest state award, which includes a $400,000 gift, a portion of land and a diplomatic passport, among other rewards.
