Roseau, Dominica (TDN)
Currently, Discover Dominica Authority has four marketing agencies representing Dominica in the United States, United Kingdom, France and Canada, as well as a new creative agency. Nine delegates came to the island for the Tourism Delegates Summit from July 25 to 28. The Tourism Summit had two objectives. Firstly, delegates were introduced to key industry stakeholder groups and presented their 2016/17 marketing plans and provided insights into attracting tourists from their markets. The Summit also included a series of familiarization visits to attractions and properties on the island to experience the destination offering first-hand, which further helped in developing the marketing plan. In line with the recommendations of the Tourism Master Plan, which strategically focuses on the “low volume, high yield” tourism market, Discover Dominica Authority has hired a creative agency as part of the rebranding plan, which includes building global destination messaging and a website redesign. Fahlgren Montine from the United States has been involved in the rebranding activities and will be part of the Tourism Summit activities. In addition, the DDA has also signed three new agencies to promote Dominica in key source markets, namely TQC in France, Myriad Marketing in the United States and LMA Communications in Canada. This is the first time that Dominica has a company that specializes in the Canadian market. Brighter Group and Tropical Consult were hired to represent Dominica in the UK and German markets, respectively.
Those who heard the presentation included the Dominican Hotel and Tourism Association, the Dominican Water Sports Association, the Dominican Community Tourism Association, Invest Dominica, travel agencies, destination management companies, owners and managers, and staff from the Explore Dominica Bureau and the Ministry of Tourism.
