On July 23, 2024, the Secretary General of the National Renewal Party (Parena), Djiguiba Kita alias Ppr, in a landmark speech, addressed the Chairman of the Drafting Committee for the Preliminary Draft of the National Charter for Peace and Reconciliation, Ousmane Issoufy Maga.
Mr.president,
What every patriot cares about is seeing the nation reconcile itself to face the challenges that have assailed it.
Osman Isufy Megh
Well, this is a great and timely opportunity *to cheer you up*, you, Mr. President, Mrs. Aminata Dramane Traor and Mr. Boubacar Sow, *because you have caused frustration for the entire country and Malian democracy* by agreeing to become the sponsor of the so-called Malian Dialogue, the day after the entry into force of the “decree depriving freedom and unconstitutional” of April 10, 2024, suspending the political activities of political parties and associations.
Mr. President, we, the signatories of the historic joint declaration of March 31, 2024, are the greatest supporters of peace and national reconciliation, which today rhymes with the “immediate and unconditional release of the 11 kidnapped political leaders” (because on Thursday, June 20, 2024, without any arrest warrant from a judge, in a private residence, under the authorization of the above-mentioned freedom to kill decree, which has expired since July 10).
The status and role accorded to political parties in the Charter-making process should be the same as during their exclusion from the DIM.
Mr. President, our comrades: *Moustaph Dicko, Hamidou Maga, Moulaye Hadara, Yaya Sangar, Abdramane Korera, Laya Guindo, Mohamed Aly Bathily, Mamadou Union Traor, Samba Coulibaly, Malley Camara and Mamadou Traor known as the King* are the 11 Malian citizens who missed the rally.
Yes! If the poet says that you miss one person, everything becomes scarce! We hereby declare loud and clear: the 11 empty seats in this room should be occupied by their rightful occupants so that this Assembly can become Augustus!!
Work with us and let them join us in the difficult task of reconciling hearts and minds that our country needs so much!
Do you want to talk about national reconciliation?
How do you plan to succeed in this huge public undertaking, when you have so many of your fellow exiles who are being persecuted for what they think or say?
How can we succeed in this noble work when so many Malians have lost family members because of a “yes” or a “no” and now fill our prisons?
Mr. President, release our 11 political leaders and all others and let freedom of thought and speech reign in this beautiful country where we are all brothers and sisters!
Thanks.
Bamako, 23 July 2024
Jijiba Kita/Ppr
