Diana Schneider, the top-ranked player in the program, qualified for the semifinals of the clay court tennis tournament held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary.
In the quarterfinals, the 20-year-old Russian defeated German qualifier Ella Seidl 6:4, 6:2 and will meet another German player, Eva Liss, in the penultimate step on the road to the championship.
Liss fought back from break points twice in the third set to defeat Rebecca Sramkova of Slovakia 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(5).
Slovakia will still send Anna Karolina Shmiedlova to the semifinals, who eliminated Russian Elina Avanesyan with a score of 2:6, 6:3, 6:2.
The last tennis player in the semifinals was Alexander Sasnovich from Belarus, who eliminated Dutch player Susanna Ramens 6:4, 2:6, 6:4.
