New Delhi: In a suspected honour killing, two men suffocated their 35-year-old sister on suspicion of having an affair, officials said on Thursday. Central police deputy commissioner M Harsha Vardhan said police had examined CCTV footage to trace and arrest Abdullah and Arib in connection with the case. There was no sign of sexual assault, he added.
Police said the accused suspected their sister of having an affair after their divorce. “They were suspicious of their sister’s behavior and felt insulted, so they planned to kill their sister,” Vardhan said.
He said as per preliminary investigation, she was suffocated to death. The DCP said the exact cause of death will be known after postmortem. Vardhan said police were alerted around 4:30 am on Thursday following which her body was recovered from her house in central Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area.
