The Darren Sammy Foundation (DSF) has awarded 25 scholarships through its scholarship program for the upcoming 2024/2025 academic year. The awards ceremony took place in the meeting room of the Finance and Administration Centre in Pointe Seraphine.

DSF once again collaborated with Republic Bank EC through its PMAD programme to recognise and reward outstanding students who have demonstrated dedication, hard work and passion for sports.

“It’s never too early to find your purpose in life,” said Sammy, chairman of the Darren Sammy Foundation. “Julian Alfred knew from a young age that he wanted to be a sprinter, and I knew I wanted to be a cricketer, and I was the first cricketer in Saint Lucia. We worked towards our goals and achieved the results we wanted.”

The Darren Sammy Foundation Scholarship covers tuition fees, textbooks, school bags and uniforms and is awarded to hard-working students from low-income families. Winners are selected based on strict criteria, such as applicants belonging to sports clubs or participating in extracurricular activities, and a 75% pass mark. Primary school students receive $1,500 in bursaries, while secondary and university students receive $2,500.
