Edward Ordenescu (46) is no longer a member of the national team after the European Championships and his future remains a mystery to everyone. Edward Ordenescu is on vacation in Spain. He has not yet announced his future plans. But CFR coach Dan Petrescu hopes that Eddie will continue to coach the first team.
The victory over Switzerland as the first in the qualifying group and the victory over Belgium as the first in the 2024 European Championship group were the two most important milestones of Edouard Iodnescu’s final period with the national team.
But after the final whistle of the round of 16 match against the Netherlands, the coach’s contract was automatically terminated, and the future of Iodnescu and the national team is still unknown.
Dan Petrescu: ‘Eddie is the perfect guy to move on’
The coach is currently on vacation in Spain and has not yet signed a new contract with the Romanian Football Federation. But Dan Petrescu hopes Iodnescu will stay and extend the agreement.
““Eddie has done a great job. It seems to me that the whole country has rallied around him and I am happy about that. She has put together a national team that we can all be proud of.” He built a soul, and the soul generation really fits in. Eddie is the one who has the best ability to move on, but he is the one who knows the most even if the players want to get better,” said the CFR coach.
Who will replace Iordanescu? “I don’t see a young coach in the national team”
The card went on to praise, “He has done a great job and I think he can also get the team to qualify for the World Cup.” Then it sent a clear message: “Everyone has to start from scratch, which will be more stressful.! Now we need an experienced coach, I don’t see a young coach in the national team”.
When asked directly if he wanted to take over the national team, Dan Petrescu said:I received at least three offers, one from CFR, one from Dynamo Moscow, one from Cuban. It wasn’t supposed to be… before I retired, it was my dream, to coach the national team. If I didn’t have a contract now, maybe I would be interested! I still want Eddie to stay, the national team needs him now”.
The final result was very good, although there was still a gap with the big teams. Eddie got the most out of the national team
