Criminals used to sell denial-of-service attacks as a service — now that’s over

Authorities in the US, Northern Ireland and the UK have reportedly shut down a service selling a major denial of service attack IteproPolice in Northern Ireland also arrested one of the administrators of the site.

Itpro said the Digitalstress website was behind thousands of denial-of-service attacks.

Authorities have taken over the digitalstress.su domain and disabled its functionality. The link now leads to a page where authorities warn that they will investigate everyone who uses the site. Authorities have also managed to gain access to the site’s administrators’ internal communications.

The measure is part of an international blackout operation launched in 2018. The goal of the operation is to shut down websites that deliver denial-of-service attacks.

The Northern Ireland Crime Commissioner said: “(The measure) sends a clear message to all cyber criminals that, whatever your motive or method, you can be identified and investigated.” Paul Woods Tell.
