In one year, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) should rise by 2.2% in April 2024, according to preliminary estimates at the end of the month, compared with a rise of 2.3% in March. Inflation has fallen slightly, partly due to a slowdown in food and tobacco prices and partly due to a slight year-on-year decline in prices of manufactured goods. In contrast, energy prices should accelerate. Service prices should rise in one year at the same pace as last month.

In one month, consumer price growth should accelerate in April 2024 (up 0.5% after 0.2% in March). This acceleration should be attributed to the increase in service prices, especially transport and “other services”. In contrast, energy prices should fall again in one month, but at a more moderate pace than in the previous month, while prices of manufactured goods and food should remain largely stable.

In April 2024, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices should increase by 2.4% year-on-year, the same as in March. Within a month, the increase should accelerate (+0.2% last month, +0.6% next month).
