Muscat: The Oman national football team players on Thursday underwent physical training in Spain, with the training starting on Tuesday and continuing until July 24. The coaching staff conducted the first warm-up training on Wednesday, as Tuesday was a rest and recovery day for the players after a long journey. The selected team began their preparatory training in the Asturias region of Spain. All players participated in physical training in the gym during the morning training, with the coaching staff focusing on improving overall physical fitness. The evening training focused on developing certain tactical and technical aspects, in addition to improving harmony among the players.

Oman will advance to the third round of the AFC Asian Qualifiers for the second time in a row, with the qualifiers set to begin in September. The Red Warriors fans and sports figures in the Sultanate of Oman are very optimistic about the draw for the AFC Asian Qualifiers Round of 26, as the teams in Group B, which includes South Korea, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine and Kuwait, have a good chance. In 2022, Oman lost to Australia by a narrow margin and missed the fourth round.

Oman head coach Jaroslav Silhawi and his assistants will ensure that the players are physically fit and improve their skills during the external training camp. These preparations are crucial before the team’s qualifier against Iraq on September 5 in the city of Basra. A positive result in the first match will encourage the team to continue its winning streak in the remaining matches of the qualifiers. The second match will be against South Korea in Muscat on September 10, which will be a crucial match. After that, the Red Warriors will face Kuwait in Muscat on October 10, followed by Jordan in Amman on October 15. Then, the first leg will end with Palestine on November 14.

Walid Nomani, head of the national team department at the Oman Football Association, told the AFC website that the team will focus all its efforts on improving performances and carefully examining all areas where we are lacking. “Only when we are satisfied with ourselves will we turn our attention to our opponents. Now that we know what to expect in the coming months, our task becomes clearer. Football is always full of surprises and we cannot predict what will happen. As things stand, I think we have enough opportunities.”
