- The total budget of AEGIS is €2.1 billion and the program is funded by three sources:
- Recovery Fund
- European Investment Bank
- ESPA.
- To date, projects worth €1,693,467,703 have been auctioned, or 82% of AEGIS’s total budget.
The remaining 18% will be auctioned before the end of the year.
- 23% of the auction project (480,013,664 euros) has been contracted and is currently in the payment stage. It is said that the down payment for the purchase of 7 Air Canada aircraft will be paid next month, amounting to approximately 100 million euros.
- The amount of projects ready for contract signing is 95,042,065 euros, accounting for 5% of the total budget of AEGIS.
In conclusion, the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection has made a great effort to overcome a series of major bureaucratic obstacles that always accompany such “heavy” and complex projects, and successfully completed an overwhelming tender in one year. The AEGIS project is rapidly entering the next phase, and Greece will gradually start receiving equipment for prevention and response to natural disasters from 2025.
