Janakpur Dham, July 25. Madhesh Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh added five state ministers, setting a record for the size of his cabinet. The next day, July 23, the youth of the Nepali Janata Party (JSP) held street demonstrations.

Jaspar Nepal, who led the Madhesh government for more than six years, was driven out of office by public opinion just two months ago. Jaspar Nepal, who joined the opposition for the first time, has been clinging to the government’s weaknesses.

Initially, the House was blocked by a budget dispute. The state assembly was blocked after Chief Minister Swayam admitted to budget errors, saying that budget entries were made by hacking into the budget system PLMBSI. The provincial assembly has tasked the current and outgoing chief ministers to set up a high-level inquiry committee.

This time, the Minister of State was criticized by the public. Jasper Nepal led youth workers to the streets, chanting slogans such as “Stop chair terror”.

Opinion leaders initially put the blame on power partner parties including the Congress. But opinion leaders, who entered the state assembly for the first time and led the government, came under pressure after questions were raised about working style and good governance at the people’s level.

Under pressure, the public opinion decided to ask Chief Minister Singh to explain. The disciplinary committee decided to ask Chief Minister Singh to explain that the Chief Minister did not coordinate with the party and did not follow the party’s instructions. Public opinion spokesperson Sharadsingh Yadav said that a letter of explanation has been sent to Chief Minister Singh. Chief Minister Singh was accused of allocating ministries without coordinating with the party, and now a state minister has been added.

Leaders said the decision to share ministries, select ministers and add ministers of state was taken in consultation with the leadership. “The chief minister coordinated with the party leadership. As per the party’s decision, two ministers and four ministers of state were appointed,” said a central leader.

According to a Janmat state assembly member, after getting into one dispute after another, a secretariat meeting held in Janakpur in the first week of July directed to work in a way that people feel. “Don’t let mistakes like in the past happen and make people feel,” the assembly member said.

Chief Minister Singh also said that a recently added state minister was also recommended by the party. “The party leadership is my guardian. You can’t bypass the party. I have done a lot of important work through coordination and consultation.” Singh said, “Since it is a coalition government, I am working with everyone.”

He also said that the state ministers were added according to the constitutional provisions. The constitution stipulates that 20% of the total number of members of the state assembly can be ministers. This way, one more person can be added. “I also show this by giving job responsibilities,” he said.

However, Chief Minister Singh said it was natural for the party to demand an explanation. “The party has appointed the chief minister and the party can demand an explanation anytime,” he told Habar Online. “I treat it as an equal.”

Singh had on June 25 prevented Congress party leader Mahesh Kumar Yadav from taking office as chief minister.
