Kathmandu, July 7 – Scottish fast bowler Charlie Castle has become the first player to take seven wickets in his ODI debut. He created the record by taking seven wickets for 21 runs in 5.4 overs in his debut match against Oman in the ICC World Cup League 2 on Monday.
South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada is the batsman who has taken the most wickets before Castle on his ODI debut. In 2015, Rabada took six wickets for 16 runs in eight overs, including three maiden wickets, against Bangladesh. Similarly, West Indies’ Fidel Edwards took six wickets for 22 runs in seven overs against Zimbabwe in 2003.
After the ball was lost at Forthhill Dundee, Oman, who was invited to bat first, went all out in 21.4 overs and scored 91. Scotland achieved this goal by losing 2 wickets in 17.2 overs.
