Ouagadougou hosted the first Feedback Seminar (RETEX), which brought together the operational components of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) to address security challenges, in Ouagadougou on July 31, 2024. The seminar was chaired by the Director General of the National Police, Jean Alexandre Darga, in the presence of the Chief of Staff of the National Gendarmerie, the Commander of the National Fire Brigade and representatives of the National Intelligence Agency (ANR).
Jean-Alexandre Darga, General Director of the National Police of Burkina Faso, recalled that terrorism and violent extremism had and continue to cause many families to lose their loved ones. However, in order to restore the stability of the past, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Popular Democratic Party were determined to reconquer and restore the territorial integrity. This has led to a significant decrease in terrorist attacks and incidents, a gradual return of the population, and the re-establishment of State services in some places.
He stressed that despite the difficulties, they remain in a state of permanent alert, fighting these evil forces day and night in the four corners of our territory, while noting that it is in this sense that this feedback seminar (RETEX) is organized as a stopover to look in the rearview mirror in order to better improve the response operations. The first officer said that the purpose of this event is to analyze the modus operandi and successes commonly used by terrorist organizations. Most importantly, the failures of the combat units involved in the theater of operations are to learn lessons in order to take corrective measures.
But he said that to do a good job of analysis, it is important to answer the following questions: How does the enemy act? What means does he use? How are his actions sequenced and what information can we learn from them?
The seminar, which is expected to last 24 hours and is the first of its kind, will bring together about thirty police officers, gendarmes and firefighters, who will discuss actions and experiences of operatives in effectively managing security issues. The meeting should also promote a pooling of forces that will help strengthen cooperation between security forces.
