Wennelebsida Jean-Alexandre Darga inaugurated the new Director of the National Police on Thursday, July 25, 2024. In the presence of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Security, Émile Zerbo, and the Deputy of the Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana.
Wennelebsida Jean-Alexandre Darga was appointed Director General of the National Police on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, replacing Roger Ouédraogo, who has held the position since May 2022, and will take over as head of the aforementioned institution on Thursday, July 25, 2024. Since April 2023, the National Coordination Centre for Early Warning and Response Mechanisms (CN-CMAPR) has been in place, and the new Director General of the National Police intends to lead by example.
“I have always been in favor of leadership by example. For me, a leader must set an example and I intend to continue with this approach because it has proven its worth in the past. My leadership style will not fundamentally change,” he advised.
Jean-Alexandre Darga takes over the National Police at a time when Burkina Faso is facing a critical security situation. A man who firmly believes that it is at the end of the old ropes that we weave new ones, he intends to continue the project started by his predecessor to increase his influence over the National Police and, above all, to make the police play by the rules in order to reconquer the territory.
“The tireless struggle to reclaim our territorial integrity, the security of our towns and villages, and the various national commitments to our national sovereignty requires the unwavering participation and determination of each and every one of us, each and every one of us. Therefore, when the trumpet of victory is about to sound, the contribution of the National Police will be written in golden letters… This order is addressed to all police officers. Me! “said Jean-Alexandre Darga.
