The President of the High Communications Council (CSC), Louis Modeste Ouédraogo, was officially inaugurated on Friday, August 2, 202 in Ouagadougou, following his appointment by presidential decree of July 31, 2024. He succeeds Idrissa Ouédraogo, who had been at the head of the institution for six months. It was installed by Ousmane Sanvidi, the chief of staff of the Faso president.
This was a solemn ceremony held in a sober state. In less than thirty minutes, under the watchful eyes of the institution’s advisers and staff, the Chief of Staff of the President of Faso made the inauguration ceremony to the incoming President. After the inauguration, the representative of the Head of State congratulated the incoming President on his appointment and congratulated the outgoing President for the work he had done as the head of the institution during his six months in office.

The outgoing President, Idrissa Ouedraogo, expressed his gratitude to the Faso President for the trust he has placed in him. He also thanked his colleagues for their commitment. As far as the actions under his leadership are concerned, he spoke of the modernization of the institution and the overall state of communication. He hoped: “I pray that the CSC will be successfully transformed into a strong social regulatory machine that will be useful to the leaders, professionals and people of Burkina Faso.”
The incoming president also praised the Faso president, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, for “renewing his confidence in him”. “I am grateful for the responsibilities that I have been entrusted with and I promise to carry them out with loyalty, dedication and in the best interests of the country”, he declared. He expressed his gratitude to his predecessor for the opportunity to learn with him. “I am committed to continuing our common project,” he assured her. While thanking his colleagues for the “good atmosphere” they have created, he urged them to mobilize in the regulatory field.
As a reminder, the new President of the Media Regulatory Agency is a lawyer, expert consultant, advisor on legal and institutional reforms and digital law. He held several positions within the institution between 2008 and 2024. Before his appointment as Vice-President of the CSC on February 7, 2024, he held the position of Project Manager under Mathias Tankoano and Abdoul Azize Bamogo. The former Secretary General of the CSC (2017-2018) holds a Master’s degree in Media and Communication Law from the University of Toulouse 1, as well as a graduate in International Research and Development, Technological Selection and International Cooperation Policy.
