Kathmandu, August 13. Police have released details of those arrested in connection with the killing of a Nepali student in Houston, Texas, United States.
Houston police issued a news release Thursday evening saying the man arrested was 51-year-old Bobby Singh Shah. Police have launched a murder investigation.
On Wednesday, the police released the picture of the suspect involved in the murder of Muna Pandey as seen on CCTV Fujet and asked anyone who saw him to inform them.
Police arrested Shah 24 hours later. According to a Houston police spokesman, Shah was seen on CCTV leaving Muna’s apartment.
Police said Shah was arrested at a traffic stop northwest of Huyton on Wednesday afternoon.
SWAT, HPD Crime Control and Texas Department of Public Safety officers were dispatched to search for the man involved in the murder. After spotting him at a traffic checkpoint, he was taken into custody, according to police.
Police have not revealed the reason for the murder. It has not yet been revealed whether the weapon used in the murder has been found. It is not clear how the deceased girl and Shah knew each other.
Pandey, 21, was shot at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, U.S. time. After receiving the news, medical staff who rushed to the scene with the police declared him dead. According to the police, he suffered multiple injuries after the shooting.
Who is Muna?
She went to the United States to pursue graduate studies in 2021. She went to the United States on a student visa and attended Houston Community College. She also worked in a local store.
Munaji’s friend, Arusha Nirola, demanded justice, saying an unimaginable incident had happened to her friend. She wrote in a Facebook post: “My dear friend, our former roommate was tragically taken away from us. No one can bear the thought of murdering a friend in such a horrific way.”
According to the online version of Daily Mail, at 5:35 pm, an unidentified person reported the incident to the police and informed them.
Citing family sources, the magazine American New York said he was in a relationship with a US citizen. He was also said to have posted pictures with the person on social media. According to his mother, there has been no contact on Munna’s phone for two days. Munna’s permanent place is Bhojpur. His mother now lives in Kathmandu.
