The Barbados Meteorological Service is closely monitoring the progress of the Central Tropical Atlantic Area of Concern, which is currently in monsoon.
There are no watches or warnings in place for this system in Barbados.
The feature is expected to pass north of Barbados between Monday 12 August 2024 and Tuesday 13 August 2024.
During this period, light winds are likely across the island and localized activity is likely. Due to light winds, the increase in temperature may cause heat stress.
Current model guidance indicates that this feature should emerge from the monsoon as a tropical wave sometime on Sunday the 11th.
August 2024. There are some deviations in intensity, but environmental conditions are expected to improve slightly.
As it moves toward the west-northwest starting early next week, it will be favorable for slow development.
