GHAZIABAD: In a major political development, Ghaziabad MP Nand Kishore Gurjar has revealed that the BJP is in touch with 22 MLAs of Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh. The announcement came after a crucial meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Meeting with the Chief Minister
Nand Kishore Gurjar, known for his outspokenness, discussed the details of his meeting with the chief minister. He mentioned that the meeting was part of a regular review meeting where legislators from Meerut district are called to discuss public issues and development works. Gurjar highlighted the drop in votes in Ghaziabad and attributed it to the traders who were unhappy with excessive official notifications and harassment.
The impact of bureaucratic behavior
Gurjar said the actions of the local government had seriously affected more than 150,000 votes in Ghaziabad. He accused certain officials of being influenced by the socialist ideology and deliberately sabotaging the BJP votes. He pointed out that some of these officials have been scrutinized and action has been taken against a few officials, and more actions may be taken.
Dissatisfaction with the government
Expressing his dissatisfaction, Gurjar said the voices of elected representatives were not being heard by officials. He stressed that the representatives had no personal demands but were forced to act on public grievances related to corruption and false cases. He stressed that ignoring these issues would only deepen public anger and weaken the BJP’s position in the state.
Law and order issues
Gurjar compared the current law and order situation in Ghaziabad to that of the 1990s and lamented the rise in crime, including the recent murder of a milk vendor in Modinagar. He criticised local officials for failing to maintain order and cited threats from Dubai and other Muslim countries to which the government had remained indifferent.
Criticism of Ghaziabad Commissioner
Gurjar unabashedly criticised the Ghaziabad Commissioner, accusing him of lax discipline and rash announcement to remove security cover for lawmakers. He called for disciplinary action against the Commissioner, stressing the importance of respecting elected representatives who serve the public.
Challenges facing BJP MPs
Highlighting the challenges faced by BJP MPs, Gurjar noted that many have stopped meeting the public due to lack of support from officials. He believes that this disconnect is eroding the BJP’s grassroots support. He recounted his own experience of public grievances remaining unaddressed despite intervention by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, reflecting bureaucratic resistance.
Allegations of election rigging
Gurjar also accused officials of trying to influence the election results, citing the example of recounting votes to ensure his victory by a margin of 9,000 votes. He claimed that similar tactics were used against Deputy Chief Minister Maurya, indicating a deeper conspiracy to weaken the BJP leader.
Future political trends
Surprisingly, Gurjar mentioned that more than 22 Samajwadi MPs are in touch with the BJP and may make a move soon. He suggested that Akhilesh Yadav should consider joining the BJP-led government to avoid further division of his party. Gurjar’s offer to mediate with the central leadership to get Yadav a ministerial post highlights the possibility of a major political reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh.
