this Paris Olympics Sunday’s closing ceremony was full of surprises.Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, HER performances and Phoenix.
Phoenix, originally from France but now based in the United States, opened their show with their 2009 hit “Lisztomania,” with the athletes dancing and singing along to the indie classic. Their performance also featured surprise appearances from French synthwave artist Kavinsky and Belgian singer Angèle, who sang “Nightcall,” a song that features drive Music (the original version was sung by CSS singer Lovefoxxx instead of Angèle).
Rapper VannDa joined in to perform “Funky Squaredance,” and French indie icon AIR sang their song “Playground Love” with Phoenix. Another surprise was Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig, who sang his song “Tonight” with the band. The show ended on a sweet note when frontman Thomas Mars jumped off the stage to mingle with the Olympians in the audience.
After the 2028 Summer Olympics moved to Los Angeles, she Go on stage and play the national anthem. The Red Hot Chili Peppers performed their 2002 song “Can’t Stop,” Billie Eilish Singing “Birds of a Feather” from her latest album Hit me softly and hard. Snoop Dogghe had Helping NBC with its prime-time coverage Throughout the competition, he went home to perform two of his biggest hits, “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and “Gin & Juice,” with Dr. Dre also making a guest appearance.
