President Joe Biden ended a pointed news conference on Thursday with a strange qualifier about his personal commitment to continuing his presidential campaign.
When asked directly if he would consider dropping out if polling data showed Vice President Kamala Harris would fare better against Donald Trump, the 81-year-old president said no, but with one condition attached.
“You’ve explained before that you have confidence in your vice president. If your team came back and showed you the data, she performed better than former President Donald Trump. Would you reconsider your decision to continue to run?” asked a Scripps reporter.
