Jen O’Malley Dillon, head of the US presidential campaign, has denied media reports that Joe Biden is preparing to announce his end of candidacy for the presidential election. She made the statement on MSNBC.
Asked if Biden would remain in the race for president, O’Malley Dillon said, “Of course the president will remain in the race.” She added that he is “more committed than ever to defeating Donald Trump.”
The head of the US presidential campaign stressed: “We believe in this campaign, we are committed to a tough election, we see a way forward, and he is the best person who can fight Donald Trump.”
O’Malley Dillon acknowledged the past few weeks of campaigning have been difficult but said the drop in support for Biden “is not significant.”
“We know people are not going to switch from Joe Biden to Donald Trump. They ask us: ‘Can he do it?’ The president says: ‘Yes, I can,’” she said.
