Former national football midfielder Mohammad Arif (Bakka), who arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday after the end of this year’s Hajj, died while receiving treatment at the intensive care unit of ADK Hospital.
It is understood she was taken to hospital with breathing difficulties caused by an infection.
The 38-year-old Bakar, who hails from Nirgarh in Hittadu in Andhra Pradesh, went for Hajj at the invitation of the Saudi king.
Bacca also played for the national team for many years and was part of Sri Lanka’s squad for the 2008 African Championship. He has played for Victory, Valencia, New Glory, Eagles, Island FC and VB Andhra FC.
Bacca also played for Myanmar Kanbawza FC
