But after becoming Prime Minister, Narendra Modi started a tradition of delivering speeches without bulletproof wheels. But will it be different this time? PTI news agency released a photo today showing that workers are placing bulletproof boxes on the ramparts of the Red Fort. In order to communicate directly with the people, PM Modi has never delivered a speech in a bulletproof box since he was sworn in in 2014. After the assassination of former PM Indira Gandhi, all PMs used to deliver speeches in a bulletproof box. It has become a tradition. In 1985, former PM Rajiv Gandhi first delivered a speech in a bulletproof box. In 1990, then PM Vice President Singh chose to deliver a speech in a half box. But Vice President Narasimha Rao chose to deliver a speech in a full box again.

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence Day, 10,000 policemen will be responsible for the security of the Red Fort on August 15. The Delhi Police said that tight security arrangements have been put in place.
