This morning, a landslide in Kerala, southern India, killed at least 123 people. One hundred people are still missing and the death toll is feared to rise further.
Here is BBC According to Indian authorities, the landslide hit the mountain village in Wayanad district early this morning while many residents were still asleep. Heavy rains hampered rescue efforts in the area, but hundreds of soldiers and rescue workers were still working.
The landslides are Kerala’s worst disaster since 2018, when more than 400 people died in severe floods.
After the landslide, more than 3,000 people were rescued from the rubble and more than 100 people were injured.
