Oranjestad: FIFA artificial turf expert Alastair Cox, together with FIFA Regional Development Manager Jordan Victoire and accompanied by Arubaanse Voetbal Bond (AVB) President Sr. Randolf Lacle, AVB Secretary General Diane Wiersma and Mr. Pancho Croes Project Manager visited Aruba’s President Evelyn Wever-Croes and Minister of Education and Sports Endy Croes to discuss the final stages of the seven (7) football pitch turf project in Aruba. Consultant team Mr. Francis Croes and Mr. Chito Geerman were also present to support the realization of the turf project. FIFA and AVB have confirmed the seven (7) initial participating teams as Nacional, Bubali, RCA, River Plate, Dakota, Estrella and La Fama. There are a number of requirements that need to be addressed and completed as soon as possible. The Minister of Sports stated that it was a successful meeting. The project will improve the standard of football in Aruba. The projects that qualify for FIFA include the categories of children, youth and women’s football. FIFA will be back soon to sign the agreement for the project which will start in early 2025. Minister Endy Croyse thanked Prime Minister Evelyne Weaver-Croyse, the Government of Aruba, FIFA, AVB and all stakeholders who together have made a wonderful project a reality for the sport of football in Aruba.
