Aruba Airport Authority NV (AAA), the manager and operator of Aruba Airport, is pleased to announce the signing of a new contract with ABO Projects VOF. The consortium consists of Algemeen Bouwbedrijf “Albo Aruba” NV and Bouwen Handelsmaatschappij “Bohama” Aruba NV. The association is responsible for the construction of Phase 1B, an important step in the ongoing expansion and modernization of Aruba Airport’s terminal facilities.
Following the recent delivery of Phase 1A, which will be operational in early 2025, Phase 1B will begin on October 16, 2024. This phase is expected to last approximately 24 months and will include:
· Expand and renovate the existing waiting room at Gate 8 to further improve passenger comfort and experience
· Construction of a new building with three exit gates. This will include state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology to increase the capacity of each terminal and gates equipped with aerobridges, and improve overall departure and arrival services
· The new departure lounges in the new building and the aerobridges at the gates provide opportunities for efficient use of space and smooth passenger flow.
· Construction of connecting passages between the existing airport building and the new building to ensure accessibility and convenient connectivity between terminals.
The new facility will include three new telebus doors on the ground floor with road and ramp access, making telebus operations more efficient
· Construction of additional sales and catering infrastructure in the new building to provide more shopping, dining options before passengers leave our islands
· All of the above will include sustainable features including solar panels, airside energy and condensate reuse to promote ecological practices.

The partnership will undertake the construction of Phase 1B, which will be an important step in the continued expansion and modernization of Aruba Airport’s terminal facilities.
Following the recently completed construction of Phase 1A, which will be operational in early 2025, Phase 1B will begin on October 16, 2024. This phase is expected to last approximately 24 months and will include:
· Expand and renovate the existing departure lounge at Gate 8 to further enhance passenger comfort and experience.
Construction of a new terminal with 3 new gates. This will include state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology to increase lounge and gate capacity and improve overall departure and arrival services.
· The new terminal and its gates feature new waiting lounge areas that make efficient use of space and enable seamless passenger flow.
· A connector will be constructed between the existing airport building and the new terminal, ensuring easy access and connectivity between the terminals.
· The new concourse facilities will include three new telebus gates on the ground floor with road and ramp access to enable efficient telebus operations.
· Build additional retail and F&B infrastructure within the new terminal to provide more last-minute shopping, food and beverage options for departing passengers.
All of the above will include sustainable features, including solar panels, airside electrification, and condensate reuse to promote environmentally friendly practices.

The new concourse and its new waiting areas at its gates allow for efficient use of space to accommodate the flow of passengers.
A connector will be constructed to link the current airport building with the new concourse, facilitating access and connectivity between the concourses.
The new concourse facility will include three new remote bus gates on the ground floor, including access roads and ramps for efficient remote bus operations.
Building more retail and dining infrastructure in the new concourse will provide more last-minute shopping and dining options for passengers leaving the airport.
All will include sustainable development elements such as solar panels, electrification of aerial processes and reuse of condensed water to promote ecological practices.
