Days after Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi received backlash for calling South actor Prabhas a ‘clown’, an old video of his has gone viral in which he is seen talking about the South film.

The ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ actor has severely criticised ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ starring Prabhas and veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan, which has become an internet sensation.

Now, a Reddit user has discovered an old video of Arshad Warsi in which he says that watching South films is a ‘no brainer.’ In the re-circulated video, Warsi was asked if South films will attract Northern audiences after the success of Kannada film KGF.

“Everyone who works in my house watches dubbed South films. There must be a reason why Rajinikanth is a big star. They don’t need to think much. You see vehicles and people whizzing around. Eat popcorn, watch the film and then go home,” the Bollywood actor said.

While many agreed with Warsi’s criticism of Kalki 2898 AD, his views on South cinema as a whole irked some social media users who felt that the actor was deliberately disparaging the South film industry.

Commenting on the viral video, one user wrote: “He should have said this to Rohit Shetty too bro I think Golmaal deserves an Oscar.” Another wrote: “This is how you destroy the sympathy you have created.”

“I sympathize with Arshad Warsi in the Prabhas incident but he seems to be deliberately insulting the South industry! He speaks as if Bollywood can produce films of the calibre of Inception and Tenet! Maybe he is deliberately creating chaos for his own 15 minutes of glory! What a flop,” said a third user. A user took a dig at Total Dhamaal, which starred the Bollywood actor among others.

“You need to have an IQ of at least 200 to watch a movie like Total Dhamaal,” the user wrote.

It is worth mentioning that Varthy was heavily criticised for criticising the sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan. “I watched Kalki and didn’t like it. I was saddened by the uncanny nature of Amit ji. I couldn’t understand that man. I swear, if we had the power he had, our lives would have changed. He was unreal,” the actor said in an interview.

However, Arshad Warsi severely criticised the filmmakers and Prabhas, saying that they had turned the film into a comedy.

“Prabhas, I am really sad, why is he like a clown. Why? I want to watch Mad Max. I want to watch Mel Gibson. What do you think? Why would they do something like this, I will never understand,” he said.
