When the feature is on, the iPhone will also announce to the other parties that the call is being recorded.

According to Android Authority, call recording does not require the implementation of the AI-based Apple Intelligence feature. Recording can also be done without a network connection because it uses the device’s Neural Engine circuitry. Therefore, the data can be processed directly on the device without sending it to Apple or other cloud services.

Earlier reports said that Apple Intelligence would not be available in the EU at least this year due to the requirements of the EU’s digital market regulation.

However, if users want a prepared transcript summary of the call, Apple Intelligence must be enabled.

The first iPhone was released in 2007.
