Antiguan President departs for Barbuda

President Mohamed Muise is travelling to Antigua and Barbuda tonight on an official visit to attend the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States.

President Muizhuis is scheduled to deliver Sri Lanka’s national statement at the plenary session of the summit in May. He is also scheduled to meet with senior officials of foreign delegations attending the SIDS meeting.

President Muizou was one of the Vice-Chairmen of the UN-organized conference and co-chair of five interactive dialogues.

SIDS conferences are held every ten years. A highlight of the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States was the adoption of the Programme of Action.

The theme of this year’s SIDS4 is “Charting a Path to Resilient Prosperity”. In line with this theme, this year’s SIDS4 Conference will focus on paving the way for environmentally vulnerable and small countries to achieve prosperity and strength.
