The man, aged in his 30s, is wanted by Interpool on charges including serious drug smuggling and drug crime.
He was arrested on July 24, the day before Alexander Gustafsson, the mastermind behind the dark web drug distribution site Flugsvamp 2.0, was arrested in Istanbul. Previously reported.
Gustafsson was sentenced to 11 years in prison by an appeals court in 2022 for extremely serious drug crimes and other charges, then defected and fled abroad.
The arrest was possible after “close and good cooperation with the Turkish police,” police wrote in a press release.
”We are very confident that these individuals have been arrested. It is important that we are able to complete the legal process. Individuals must be sentenced for the crimes they have committed. No one should feel safe simply because they are in another country.”, said Sofie Holmqvist, deputy director of the National Operations Department’s investigations unit, in a comment.
