Sotiris Danezis presented the report in the presence of Nikos Christodoulidis, President of the Republic of Cyprus.
“In this way, Sotiris triggers the memories and traumas associated with this closed city, the former diamond of the Orient, which remains a hostage behind barbed wire during the occupation,” said Nikos Christodoulidis.
The journalist, who has extensive work in 80 countries around the world, photographed the closed city of Famagusta, which the occupation regime allowed access to three years ago.
“This exhibition means a lot to us, it is a painful and complex subject and we approach it with awe, special sensitivity and respect for the truth,” said Sotiris Danizis.
“The Archdiocesan Mission and the Archbishop himself accepted from the beginning the report of Sotiris Danezis, which carries the message that the Greek Church will never forget the obligations of Greeks to Cypriots,” said Archbishop Konstantinos Dimtsas, who heads the IAA Mission, a charitable organization.
The exhibition is hosted by the President of the Republic of Cyprus and organized by the Athens Municipality Culture, Sports and Youth Organization. The exhibition communication sponsor is MEGA.
