Twelve representatives of political parties and groups have been given seats in the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT). The act took place on Thursday, July 18, 2024, and is The Charter was amended and adopted on May 25, 2024.

According to multiple sources, the Ministry contacted about four political parties and groups to nominate a representative to attend the meeting, but in the end they were not selected and no reason was provided to them. This seems to have caused doubts and misunderstandings within the organizations that nominated and communicated the recommendation of their representatives to the Ministry (Ministry of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Security), according to the letter sent to them. This is an “unpleasant” situation for these political parties and groups, but they avoid speaking about it publicly so that some citizens do not understand. Therefore, everyone tries to find solutions at their own level to “answer” the questions, while reaffirming their commitment to supporting those in power.
Among these political organizations, the Movement for Democracy in Africa (MDA) has produced a publication addressing its activists and the Ministry of Supervision. “Activists, since the new representatives of the party took office in the ALT Transitional Legislative Assembly, many of you have been calling on us to find out the reasons why the representative of the African Democratic Movement, MDA, is not included in the new seat. In fact, in letter No. 2024-2441 dated July 2, 2024, the Minister of Territorial Decentralization requested the President of the MDA to send the list of party representatives, namely first and last names, occupations and telephone numbers, to the General Secretariat of the Ministry responsible for territorial administration no later than Wednesday, July 3, 2024, strictly by 12 noon. The President of the party responded to the Ministry’s gratitude in a letter dated July 3, 2024. We are pleased with the attention paid by the highest authorities and expressed our approval through the press. It is therefore surprising that, like you, we have noticed the new representatives of the party who took office without the MDA. The reasons for this new desire to leave the party have not yet come to our attention. Far from being disappointed with this approach of the Ministry, the MDA congratulated the new representatives and hoped that the Minister would not tire of sending the MDA in the future. “We ask you, activists, not to be saddened by the turn of events that followed the Minister’s letter, but to always be mobilized for what is important, namely, to work for the smooth transition under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré, President of Faso”we can read MDA President Amadou Tall’s Facebook page.
It should be noted that the revised charter means that there is no longer any political component in the ALT (former APMP, former CFOP-BF, former ONA, former other parties), and the parties and factions serve separately. In addition, in this “reorganization” of the ALT, the political section only takes into account the parties and groups that participated in the meeting of May 25, 2024.
