Allowing motorcycles and mopeds to travel in bus lanes

For motorcycles and mopeds, the so-called During the third reading in the plenary session of the extraordinary session of Parliament, 77 MPs supported giving bus lanes the right of way.

“One of the important reasons is that motorcycles and mopeds are more visible to other road users, which significantly reduces traffic accidents. In addition, the faster driving of motorcycles and mopeds on lanes reserved for minibuses also reduces the emission of harmful substances into the air. For this purpose, the amendments incorporate Article 37 of the Georgian Road Traffic Code, as well as the right to drive on lanes intended for shuttle vehicular traffic, and the corresponding category of light vehicles – taxis (M1 category), assigned to motorcycles and / or mopeds by the municipal representative bodies, the explanatory note to the bill states.

The initiator of the change was the “Georgian Dream” MP.
