French judicial authorities have launched an investigation into whether the boxer was a victim of severe cyberbullying after he reported a series of online attacks related to his gender and image.
Khalif’s lawyer Nabil Boudi said the attacks were amplified by public figures and politicians, with offensive, misogynistic and racist content coming mainly from abroad. The attacks were allegedly targeted at Khalif’s physique, gender, nationality and image, especially following the controversy over his exclusion from the 2023 World Championships in New Delhi because the International Boxing Association (IBA) deemed him to have failed a gender test.
